Using a blog would be a great way for staff and students to post book reviews to their favorite books. If students need a book it may be a good place for them to find something they like.
I have also been using Delicious to centralize bookmarks. I never remember a link when I am away from my computer. It is also a great way for the library staff to share common websites about topics we use in common.
